Just in case you were worried that the government didn't get it that it's a tough economy out there for all of us, here's a quick reminder: they don't. Proof in point, it seems like the "Republican" Mayor Bloomberg is once again going to the well to take another dip out of the pockets of the hard working people of New York City. The TV and newspapers gleefully proclaim that "conservatism is dead." Don't believe it for a second. Conservatism wasn't scorned Tuesday, but what we, as conservatives, have allowed it to become.

I thought that maybe we could spend a few bits and bytes talking about how to move forward. It is becoming more obvious that on both the state and national level the Republicans are in full retreat. While Obama is attacking in our "strongholds" (if we have any of those left), I heard on my right wing extremist radio this week that McCain has exactly one person on staff in California.

This is revealing on so many levels. From the Washington Post, 9 June, “Senate Votes to Privatize Its Failing Restaurants:”
“Year after year, decade upon decade, the U.S. Senate's network of restaurants has lost staggering amounts of money -- more than $18 million since 1993, according to one report, and an estimated $2 million this year alone, according to another.”

During the last primary cycle Andy Harris beat long-time political Wayne Gilchrest in Maryland’s First Congressional. I thought Andy won because he got more votes. Fortunately, the Baltimore Sun set me straight.

Our Weakened Sense of Right and Wrong

This story has everything. Illegal immigrates going to court for failing to attend school being paid for by tax payer. It isn't there first time in court but when the judge finally decides they need to spend time in jail to try and scare then straight they get deported because at that point ICE decides it needs to do something about them then.

Personal Responsibility? What’s That?

We see this repeated over and over again. It not the child abusers fault. It not the murders fault. It everyone else fault not the person doing something wrong or stupid. Sometime we need to help people when they do dumb things but giving them a free pass isn't the answer.
