Anne Arundel Residents imagine hometown hero in Camden yards

Thoughts into post 2008 season of the Baltimore Orioles landing Baltimore suburb native Mark Texeria are floating around Oriole forums all over the net. The switch hitting slugging 1st baseman is thought to be a hot commodity this up coming free agent season when the 2008 season is all said and done. Texeria is a Severna Park,Maryland native so speculation gets Oriole fans thinking and hoping. It is a small chance I put at 25% at this point and its up to the Orioles front office how series they will go after Tex or not. It was thought he will be a Yankee sooner or later but going for the Orioles is that the Yankees have not been to the WS or won it in a few seasons. They hold no legit reason at this point to be the only team of glory. The Mets would be the other team in my opinion to go after him. He has limited his so called team of destination search to the east coast so that his parents or his in-laws are a short plane ride away from their home towns to being able to see him and his wife. His agent says every team will be open game. Scott Boras is his agent who also reps Matt Wieters. Anyhow looking at the teams on the east coast here is what notes I see.

-FLA marlins: not into big free agents

-TB Devil Rays: Pena at 1st-*Atlanta Braves: Current Brave, wife’s home town. They are under 500 right now and may be of the teams interest to deal him for the rest of 2008

-DC Nats: Would need to sign multiple big names for him to look so don’t see it

-*Orioles: Chance he will want to come home and could be corner stone of a lineup that is building up. Depends on how serious he see’s the Orioles at the end of 2008.

-Pirates: no way

-Phillies: Howard is there

-*Yankees: Possible they will offer him the back, Giambi may ink new deal but doesn’t mean he will be 1B

-*Mets: Delgado maybe out therefore they could offer the bank

-Red Sox: Ortiz/Youkilis are there, no way

* as far as I see it will be a 4 team race for Texeria
